We have talked in this blog about Social Commerce and how social networks like Facebook will be really important e-commerce markets in the future. Social networks continues to grow faster and faster, new social networks are appearing every day and with this new social networks appear new opportunities to start social commerce business.
Users are starting to use Social Commerce, but an interesting study from Digitas, has found that Social Commerce is not growing as it is supposed to de because users are not happy enough with security levels on Social Networks. 55% of Social Media users are not comfortable giving their credit card number in a social network.
Social Media users are comfortable sharing their images and information about their lives but for them this is not the same as introducing their credit card number to buy anything on a Social Network. It looks like security is something that Social Networks need to improve if they want to continue growing.

Virtual money is not beign as successful as it should, 74% of social media users indicate that they wouldn’t use virtual currency such as Bitcoin or Facebook Credits to pay for a purchase made on a social media site.
Great efforts have to be done if we want to see how social commerce reaches the US$30 billion that is estimated for this market globally in the next five years. New platforms are needed to improve security issues, social media users are spending a lot of time on this social networks and this time will be growing year by year, it’s a really thrilling challenge for e-commerce professionals to resolve the security problem of Social Commerce.
